Dresden inspires Berlin: Dresden Convention on Tour

On 27 and 28 August 2024, we from Dresden Convention Service brought the unique charm of the Saxon state capital directly to Berlin. With the exclusive event "Dresden Convention on Tour", the capital was transformed into a stage for Dresden's diversity as an event and congress destination. The highlight was the luxurious GourmetLiner, a mobile restaurant bus that spoilt guests with culinary delights as an event location.

The aim of the tour was to give Berliners an impressive insight into Dresden's possibilities as an event location. The guests not only enjoyed regional specialities, but also an extraordinary edutainment programme. Karl August Ferdinand Lingner, a visionary Dresden entrepreneur, took the guests on a journey through the city's history of invention. From the world-famous Odol mouthwash to the filter bag - the stories behind these innovations captivated the guests and made it clear why Dresden is considered a city of creatives and inventors.

In order to accommodate the hectic schedules of the participants, we offered various time slots: From a business breakfast to a lunch slot to an after-work event - there was a suitable opportunity for every guest to get to know the advantages of Dresden in just two hours.

Also on board the tour were some of Dresden's MICE partners:
  • The GourmetLiner is Europe's only fully self-sufficient restaurant and event bus. It offers an unrivalled experience that combines live cooking demonstrations and an exclusive ambience. The GourmetLiner can accommodate up to 36 guests.

  • Located in the heart of Dresden's Old Town, the Hilton Dresden offers a breathtaking view of the Frauenkirche. With its 14 function rooms, this hotel is perfect for conferences and events of all kinds.

  • The listed Erlweinspeicher is home to the Maritim Hotel Dresden, which is directly connected to the International Congress Centre Dresden . With 21 event rooms on four levels, it can host major events with up to 6,800 participants, making it one of the best addresses for large events.

  • The Messe Dresden, together with the neighbouring Börse Dresden, is an impressive industrial monument. Formerly the production halls of the municipal cattle and abattoir, this location offers around 23,000 m² of covered hall space for trade fairs and major events of all kinds.

  • The museums of the Dresden State Art Collections, including the Albertinum, the Lipsiusbau, the Residenzschloss and the Zwinger, offer an unrivalled backdrop for seminars, congresses and glamorous gala dinners. Surrounded by sculptures, paintings and porcelain art, every event becomes a unique experience.

The tour has shown that it is possible not only to present a city, but to bring it to life. For two days, Berlin became the backdrop for the flair and innovative power of Dresden, and the response from guests was overwhelming. The "Dresden Convention on Tour" successfully demonstrated that Dresden is also recognised as an attractive MICE location far beyond its city limits.
