Rediscover Moritzburg Castle
- MICE news
Moritzburg Castle, named after Duke Moritz, is probably the most beautiful moated castle in Saxony. He had a hunting lodge built near Dresden in 1542. Augustus the Strong rebuilt it from 1723 onwards under the direction of Matthäus Pöppelmann into a magnificent Baroque palace in the middle of an extensive pond and park complex. One of the most important hunting trophy collections in Europe, ornate gold-leather tapestries and the "Feather Room" decorated with over a million coloured bird feathers are just some of the treasures that Moritzburg Palace houses. In the truest sense of the word, things get fairytale-like in winter: Every year, Moritzburg Castle is transformed into the magical setting for the legendary fairytale film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella". Fans then walk in the footsteps of the cheeky princess at the original filming location.
From March to October, rediscover the castle with the HistoPad.
