Saxony now starts the implementation of the special federal fund for cultural events

In Saxony, organisers in the cultural sector will soon be able to apply for new aid!

Culture Minister Barbara Klepsch has concluded an agreement to this effect with the federal government, which was confirmed by the Saxon Cabinet today.

Funding will be provided for events such as concerts, festivals, operas, musicals, theatre performances, readings and much more.

What is promoted?

Smaller events (with up to 500 guests, from 1 August for events with a maximum of 2,000 guests) can receive a subsidy of up to 100 percent of the sales revenue for the 500 (from 1 August) 1,000 first tickets sold. This should also make events possible if the number of spectators has to be reduced due to corona. If the maximum capacity is particularly low due to especially strict hygiene regulations, the subsidy from the special fund can increase to the amount of double the ticket revenue.

Applications can be made for the subsidies for events between 1 July 2021 and 31 March 2022.

Larger events (2,000 guests or more) can receive cancellation cover if they have to be cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic. The cancellation cover will start on 1 September 2021 and expire on 31 December 2022.

Applications are expected to be possible from 15 June via a nationwide central platform.
