Whisky tasting: A spirits journey for the special taste
- MICE news
The whisky tasting in the Palais Bar of the Relais & Châteaux Hotel Bülow Palais is not an everyday team event. Bartender and whisky connoisseur Waldemar Bornemann offers a 5-person tasting of a wide variety of whiskies in the Palais Bar. Scotland, Ireland and North America are certainly the classics, but Japan and Germany are also exciting countries of origin of excellent whiskies.
The taster receives a loving, entertaining historical journey about the respective whiskies and interesting background information about the respective distilleries. Waldemar Bornemann has many an amusing anecdote in store and presents one or two rarities even for connoisseurs.
Another important aspect of the tasting will be the way of tasting. First, look into the glass: What do the colour and oiliness of the liquid tell you? Then comes the smell: "The guest always has his nose in the glass first, before the drink even touches the tongue. The nose accounts for 70 percent of the taste," explains Waldemar Bornemann. Only then does the sip follow and here you learn the unexpected again: "The first sip is unimportant, only the second sip reveals the true taste".
The tastings are suitable for small groups of up to 10 people - ideally 8 people - and last about 2 hours. The tastings can also be held on the theme of gin or rum and can be combined well with a dinner in the hotel restaurant Caroussel Nouvelle.
