Royal celebrations at Moritzburg Castle

At the behest of Augustus the Strong, the previous Renaissance building was transformed into a Baroque hunting lodge and pleasure palace in the 18th century. During the conversion, the palace kitchen was built in the basement to serve the numerous guests at the Saxon ruler's tables. Original objects such as a fish tank, the fountain and the rediscovered baking oven are reminders of the electoral-royal times.
With the extensive restoration and renovation of the rooms and inner courtyards, the "Royal Palace Kitchen" was converted into a banqueting hall. Many amenities (directly connected catering area, cloakroom, WC, lift for wheelchair users) combine with the historic ambience of the room, whose entrance area lies in direct line of sight to the Fasanenschlösschen.

Also right next to the entrance is the legendary Cinderella Staircase, where the cheeky fairy-tale princess once lost her shoe and thus laid the foundation stone for the latest Moritzburg success story.
