Charming Christmas Markets

Dresden’s Striezelmarkt and More

While Dresden’s Striezelmarkt is the most renowned, there are many other Christmas markets to explore. The Striezelmarkt, Germany’s oldest Christmas market, is set in the heart of the historic old town and showcases traditional wooden crafts from the Erzgebirge mountains, Herrnhut stars, and authentic Dresden Christmas cake. Nearby, you’ll find the Christmas Market by the Frauenkirche and the Neumarkt Advent Market, where carol singers add to the festive charm. In the Stable Courtyard of the Royal Palace, the Medieval Christmas Market recreates the late Middle Ages with jugglers, stilt walkers, storytellers, and traditional craftsmen. The Augustus Market, an international Christmas market, honours Augustus the Strong and the legendary 1730 ‘Zeithainer Lustlager’, blending regional customs with international Christmas traditions.
